THORNTON LE FEN PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 07th October 2021 at 7pm in the chapel of the Methodist church.
In Attendance: With Councillor G. Fordham in the Chair there were also present councillor(s) Daff and Burt.
Absent: Councillors Richardson, Smith, District councillor Neil Jones and County Councillor Tom Ashton.
Public: There was one member of public present.
- Chairman’s announcements – The chairman welcomed all present and thanked them for coming.
- Apologies for absence and reasons given – Apologies received and accepted from councillor Richardson.
- The notes from the parish meeting of the Council held on Thursday 08th July 2021 in the chapel of the Methodist church (attached) to be approved as Minutes and signed by the Chairman
It was:-
Proposed by Councillor Burt and seconded by Councillor Daff and RESOLVED for the chairman to sign the minutes as a true record.
- Reports from Police and District Councillor if present – Not present, no reports given.
- To consider and approve the Following payments
- Clerks Salary, allowances and Tax - £200.00
It was:-
Proposed by Councillor Burt and seconded by Councillor Daff and RESOLVED that the above payment be approved and duly paid.
- To consider the purchase of village gates – The council discussed this at length.
It was:-
Proposed by Councillor Fordham and seconded by Councillor Daff and RESOLVED to move this item to the next meeting when more councillors are present.
- Planning Application/s – No recent applications for discussion. The clerk was asked to check with planning for applications on canister lane as some building works have started but the council have not been notified.
- The co-option of any potential candidates present – A member of public has registered their interest.
It was:-
Proposed by Councillor Fordham and seconded by Councillor Daff and RESOLVED to co-opt Pat Hawkes onto the council.
- Correspondence for the Council – The clerk told the council this is all dealt with via email.

- Highways Matters
- The clerk told the council that the overgrown hedges and shrubbery is being investigated by Highways.
- The clerk told the council that LCC highways are taking no action in regards to the shells/ driveway chippings on Newham Lane nor will they replace the no through road sign which was knocked over as the lane is too narrow to re-erect it.
- The clerk told the council that LCC highways have requested a post and sign design for the Gipsey Bridge village sign.
- Councillor Daff asked if there were any updates for the tree which had been planted on Leagate road near the speed sign. The clerk told the council that councillor Richardson was dealing with this.
- The clerk was asked to apply for a dog waste bin near the bridge in Gipsey Bridge and Bunkers Hill.
- Reactive speed sign – No new updates.
- Defib installation update – The clerk told the council she has the defib and cabinet and is trying to arrange an installation date with the electrician. If this can’t be arranged she will approach other electricians for prices.

The date of the next meeting is scheduled for 06th January 2022 to commence at 7.00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Methodist Church.
